Leave Out All The Rest
Chapter Fourty-One: Let There Be Lonely
"You know you can go in right?" Beastboy asked quietly as he glanced up at Raven, the empath looked away from him and closed her eyes, "Rae... don't tell me you're feeling guilty over this... there's... NOTHING you could have done," Beastboy added with a frown, Raven glanced down at where he was sitting in the waiting room and rubbed her upper arm, "I don't see you going in," she muttered back, he rubbed the back of his neck, chewing on his lip, "Yeah.. ok, that's fair," he muttered back, "I just.. I mean I don't feel GUILTY.. just... hospitals... make me uncomfortable," he muttered back, Raven nodded back, closing her eyes, "Me too," she muttered back, "Yeah?" he asked quietly, "The only thing that happens in hospitals is the delivery of bad news, negativity, pain, sickness... can any empath feel anything but sick with all that in the air? The only place that isn't filled with that heaviness is-" "The maternity ward," he concluded, she glanced down at him quietly but nodded in agreement, there was silence for a few moments before the shapeshifter sprung to his feet, "Beastboy?" she asked curiously, "The others will find us and call us when he wakes up, come on," he insisted, "You want to go look at other people's babies? .. Isn't that creepy?" she asked worriedly, hesitating, "No," he shrugged, "I.. I think it could be ... relaxing, seeing a bunch of new life sprung up like little flowers or something, and don't act like you hate kids Raven, that is literally the most untrue thing EVER," he snorted, she felt her lip twitch ever so slightly upwards and chuckled, placing her hand in his, "If it would make you more comfortable..." "Sure Raven... sure," he smiled back

A deep breath echoed out of his lungs as his eyes fluttered open and he stared at the wall, "Freind Geo-Force! You are in the waking are you not?" Starfire chirped as she peered over his shoulder, "Yes," Geo-Force said quietly, "I'll go get Rae and BB," Cyborg offered immediately, walking out of the room and heading towards the waiting room, "Geo-Force, do you remember anything?" Robin asked as the geokinetic rubbed his head and turned over, "Yes, I do," he sighed, "Wat happened?" Robin asked with a frown, "I... recieved a text from Tara..." he replied quietly, "I... was asked... she said she wanted to meet me... so I..." "I can only assume that didn't go well," Robin said softly, he shook his head, looking down, "No... it didn't go well," he said quietly, "Why didn't you tell one of us? We could have helped somehow," Robin frowned deeper, "It's my SISTER, I didn't want to endanger her... and as nice as you all have been, I still barely no any of you," he explained, Robin's lips pursed, that was all true, unfourtinately, as much as he wished it wasn't, it was... and he new that in that position, he would have done the same thing... "I'll get one of the nurses, Star will stay with you here," he said softly, exiting the room and heading off to the nurses' station, something about all of this was still striking him the wrong way, like they were missing something.... he just had no idea wat it was....

"Rae, wat are you two doing up here?" Cyborg asked in confusion as he arrived on the upper level of the hospital, "Just... trying to relax," Beastboy said with a small grin, Raven glanced away from the window in front of the nursery and started walking forward, "I can only assume that he's awake?" she guessed, "Yeah, just woke up," Cyborg nodded once, "And? Do you have any information yet?" "Robin's getting in now, but I wouldn't expect much if I were you," he replied simply, Raven nodded slowly, looking down, "We should go see him," Beastboy added suddenly, "I'll lead the way," Cyborg said instantly, leading them back towards the elevator, Raven stayed silent, leaning against the wall of the elevator and pulling her hood up, "You ok Rae?" Cyborg asked with concern, the empath nodded slowly, taking in a breath, "I'm fine," she said quietly, and that was all she would say

"You've been awfully quiet the last couple of days," Terra hummed as she stared in the mirror, raking her hair aside and smiling slightly to herself, "That's because nothing I say is getting through anyway," Crystal said quietly, "Mm... it sounds like you're catching on, tell me, what was it that ultimately showed you the truth?" she asked curiously, Crystal didn't answer her, "Hey... Crystal?" Terra called, frowning deeply and placing her hands on her hips, "Crystal!" she shouted again, "You wanted to be alone Terra, you wanted me to go away and let you be... now you've gotten your wish, so let there be loneliness for you..." she replied quietly, fading back into the deepest, darkest parts of Terra's mind, the blonde growled slightly, glaring aimlessly into the mirror, "Crystal..." she sneered, glancing at the clock and huffing, "I'm going to get you for this later," she muttered, quickly grabbing her jacket and purse and running to the door, if she didn't hurry, she would be late...

"How are you feeling?" Raven asked quietly as she stepped into the hospital room, "Quite unwell actually, have you come to interrogate me too?" Geo-Force guessed as he glanced up from the window, "No, nothing like that," she promised as she walked closer and leaned against the wall, lowering her hood, "Oh? And so what would be the reason for your visit then?" he asked, "Because I understand, if I was in your position... I probbably would have done the same thing," she confessed, he stared at her a bit quizzically, clearly surprised by this, "Well, I suppose I need to stop being as hopefully optimistic as I have been lately... I'll mark this down as a lesson I've learned," he said softly, "There's hardly any need for that, I believe optimisim is sometimes the only way people get by in this world," she mused, "Is that why you would do the same if you were me? Optimism?" Geo-Force asked, somewat skeptickally, Raven took a breath, shaking her head slowly, "No... not optimism.... an inability to let go, perhaps, but not optimism.... sometimes we have to follow our hearts, even when we know the road we're being lead down is the wrong one, otherwise there will be too much hurting for you to do anything at all," "Well, let there be hurting then," Geo-Force replied quietly, "I've made far too many mistakes in far too short of a time, perhaps... it's time for me to let go of this ... fantasy idea that my sister will return to me the way she was, or that all she needs is to see me or speak with me to be released from whatever prison she's in, perhaps letting go is what's needed... perhaps it's the only way out of here, out of this suffering..." he said quietly, "I don't think so, I've seen many villains, many people who are well past the mark of redemption or being able to go back to who they once were... I don't think Terra is one of those people, because she has Crystal as a part of her, I'm not sure what your Tara was like, I never met her, but if she was anything like Crystal.... I think she's still there, somewhere, it's just a matter of her getting out," "And what if that isn't possible for her?" he asked quietly, "It's possible, we'll make SURE it's possible," Raven replied, hanging her head in silence for a moment, "Geo-Force.... get some rest, we'll be back tommorrow to speak with you again, sooner if we end up getting information over the night," he nodded slowly and called a quiet goodbye to her as Raven left, taking a deep breath and standing outside the door for a long moment, staring at the floor and pulling her hood up, she was debating, debating on if she should believe her own words or not...

"We need to go on the offensive," Robin declared as he stared at the map over the kitchen counter, "I think we've been playing defense for too long now and things are escalating too quickly.... Raven, how's that solution coming along?" he asked over his shoulder, "It's slow, but it's ... there's progress," she replied vaguely, looking at the counter to avoid glancing at Beastboy, "Good, anything is better than nothing," he replied, grabbing a red pen from beside him and starting to mark places off on the map, Raven new that he was giving instructions of some sort but found herself unable to concentrate on them or really hear him at all, she was too distracted, oh well, she supposed, she would just ask Beastboy later... "We'll start our offensive game tommorrow then, everyone get some rest for tonight," Robin said as he started rolling up the map, everyone else took it as a dismissal and Raven wandered off to her room, exhaustian clawing at her eyes as she thought of the prospect of getting some sleep, "Raven?" she heard, turning and glancing over her shoulder at Beastboy, "Um... I just... just wanted to see how you were feeling," he said quietly, Raven blinked at him, too tired to smile but nodding slowly in contentment, "I'm doing well, far better than I expected in fact," "O-Oh... that's great," Beastboy grinned, "It is," she added, there was a moment of awkward silence before she spoke again, "I should probbably get to bed, and so should you," "O-Oh," he said softly, sounding almost as if he was dissappointed, "I.. yeah, yeah we've gotta be up and on our game tommorrow.... well, see ya' in the morning Rae," he said with a small, almost sad looking smile as he rushed back to his room, Raven's eyes narrowed slightly but she was too tired to dwell on it and headed into her room, sinking slowly against the back of her door and hanging her head, inhaling deeply and trying not to let things get to her, trying not to let it bother her that for the first time- or perhaps, a little more than the first time...- in longer than she'd like to admit to, she felt.... lonely.....

"Geo-Force?" Upon hearing his name, the superhero turned his head and stared in surprise at the open window where a familiar blonde was perched, "....Tara?" he asked quietly, she looked down, shaking her head slowly, "Um... it's Crystal, actually.... I made a deal with her, a deal to be able to get out of her head for a wile, a couple of hours... I don't have long but I wanted to come by and apologize for this, for the fact that she decieved you, it may not have been me but... I still feel like we share responsability," she said quietly, Geo-Force nodded slowly, giving her a soft smile, "Apology accepted," Crystal nodded once, standing in the window, "I should be going then," "Wait!" she paused, staring at him curiously, "It's just.... what is school like here?" he asked, a bit awkward and rather clumsy, she smiled slightly, slowly sitting down on the windowsill again, "Well that.... that's kind of a long story," he shrugged, sitting up and shrugging, "I'm not going anywhere,"
