Tonic Immobility
(PETs AU)
Have you ever watched Shark Week on the Discoverey Channel?
I have
Every year
And if there is one thing I've learned from Shark Week, it's this:
Shark bites are NOT a fun thing...
But I've learned other things too
For example
"Tonic Immobility"
The process of putting a shark in a state of bliss causing it to go immoble
This trick is usefull for many things:
Tagging
Tracking
Preventing your arm from being chewed off
But I never thought I would have to use it...
After all I'm a lion, lions don't swim, and further more I don't live near an ocean
But if I had been cocky enough to think that I would NEVER need to use Tonic Immobility...
....I would have been WRONG....
....And likely missing a limb right now
However, this is not because I'm currently face to face with a hungry shark...
....It's because I'm face to face with an angry Rukia....
She had come home grumbling about something or other and would only snarl out that she was having a rotten day
Now all things considered I don't have to be a GENIOUS to figure out that if my Owner is angry I should STAY AWAY
.....
Unfourtinatly
....
I'm not quite smart enough to realize that either....
Had it been three months ago I probbably would have gone running from her scared for my life just because of the "if-murder-was-legal" aura around her
But I trust Rukia now, I trust her with my life and I trust that I should help her sort things out
So I followed her into her room as she flopped down on her bed and hissed at the wall
I cautiously sat next to her and let out a quiet, mewing sound, hoping to elict a response
I got nothing
So I very hesitantly reached out and started running my fingers through her hair, surprisngly, I felt her relax, if only a bit, as I did that
So I started to skim over her scalp, lightly scratching her behind her cute bunny ears, and she relaxed completly
"I had such an awfull day..." she muttered as I did this
"I ran into a door, spaced out in the middle of my photography class and fell in a puddle of mud on my way home..." she muttered
As I listened to her prattle on about her multiple problums for the day I started to wonder why she was suddenly telling me all this
More importantly...
Why was she now snuggling up to me and sighing contently if only twenty minutes ago she was about to go homicidal?
And then it hit me
I was still scratching her behind her ears....
It was Tonic Immobility that saved my scrawny life not only that day but every other day that Hurricane Rukia decided to stop by for a visit
THANK CEILING CAT THAT I WATCH THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL!

More PETs from the minds of and myself I wanted to write something about Ichigo finding Rukia's "tonic spot" because all animals have one (I think) for small sharks it's the underside of their bellies, for my dog it's her neck, so I thought maybe for Rukia it'd be behind her ears Oh and those who don't no the legend of "Ceiling Cat" it's basically the God of the cat world I got it from [link]
