Chapter Twenty-Three: Teddy Loves Her
Raven took a deep breath as she stared at the cards beneath her, eyes narrowed and palms sweating as she slowly stood up, "This isn't good," she sighed, closing her eyes, she rubbed her upper arm nervously and started to walk towards the door, jumping slightly when she heard someone nock on it, shaking her head slightly to clear it, she stepped closer again and telepathically opened it, "Beastboy," she greeted blandly, "H-Hey Rae," he smiled crookedly, she raised an eyebrow, "Is there something you need?" "Um.... well.... are you busy?" he asked shyly, "Not.... currently..... I need to speak with everyone about something I may have found," she replied, "O-Oh.... well.... can it wait?" "Does it need to?" he took a deep breath, "K-Kinda... see Robin thinks we're both kinda burried deeper in all this than everybody else sooooo he wants us to get out for a little bit, get a breath of air ya' know?" "Robin suggested this?" she asked, not believing him for a second, "Want to ask him yourself?" Beastboy countered, though she noticed how he dodged directly answering the question she decided not to mention it and just sighed, shaking her head, "What is it you need Beastboy?" "W-Well I was thinking.... ya' know... as long as he wants us both to get out for a wile... wanna get out... t-together... for a wile?" she blinked, honestly surprised by this but thinking for a moment before nodding slowly, "I... suppose so, let me change into civillian clothes, I'll meet you in the living room," he grinned, nodding and waving as he rushed out and mentally thanking Robin for their earlier conversation...

"Take her out," Beastboy glanced up at Robin curiously over the back of the couch, "Um.... what?" "Raven, get up and go," "Wait a sec.... why? Go where? What're you talking about?" the boy wonder sighed, "Don't even try to hide it Beastboy, I can see it in your eyes, you and Raven have a thing for eachother," "W-W-Wah-" "C'mon, I've been with Star for over a year now, I've learned to spot these things, you two are exhausted from this .... Terra and... Crystal issue, you both need to take some time out and just.... take a breather," he frowned, looking down, "I... I don't know..... I mean even if I did... where would... I mean... how would I even ask her?" "Don't you bother with what you're going to say, what you're going to do, it'll come to you, trust me, Star's first date with me was just completely spontanious," "Yeah but Rob she's like..... head over heels for you, Raven.... she barely LIKES me...." "Beastboy.... Raven isn't GOOD with emotions like this but trust me, she has them for you, it'll just take a little coaxing, she WANTS to be around you believe it or not," "But-" "So you're feeling unsure, everyone does at first with these things, I know I did.... but ... just listen to your intuition, to your heart, you know it feels right don't you?" "Yeah... MAYBE.... but... I think I blew it with her a long time ago," he wispered, "She's already forgiven you and I know you know this too, Beastboy you're just finding excuses now because you're nervous, aren't you always telling me not to overanalyize everything? Well don't analyze this ok? What else must you no to convince you that this is the right decision?" he frowned, "You.... really think so?" "Have I EVER lied to you?" "....Yeah actually you sort of have," he frowned slightly, obviously not having expected that, "...Just... ah... she's waiting for you so go and get her alright? Take her to the carnival or something, just be back before Thursday," he huffed as he walked away, Beastboy snorted, "Today's Monday," he muttered

"So do you want to tell me where we're going?" Raven asked as she finished brushing her hair, "O-Oh um.. it's a surprise!" he grinned, she quirked an eyebrow at him but decided not to ask, sometimes it was better if she just let it go.... things could be so simple if she just had a little faith every once in a wile, and she knew Beastboy, as frustrating as he could be and as aggrivating as it could be trying to deal with him at times.... she knew in the bottum of her heart that if she could have faith in anyone it would be Beastboy, "A surprise... I see," she sighed, exhaling lowly and staring at the box she had just replaced on her shelf and deciding she would just have to do it later, when she got back, "Alright," she shrugged, adjusting her dark blue sundress, "I guess we should get going?" he beamed, nodding quickly, "Youuuuuu got it~!"

"I have to say... this place isn't bad," Raven mused as she looked around, "Y-Yeah? You think so?" Beastboy asked with an excited grin, "It IS a museum," Raven noted a bit blandly, "W-Well yeah..." he muttered shyly as they walked, "Why ARE we at a museum?" she asked curiously, after all it didn't really seem like Beastboy's sort of entertainment, "W-Well there's this exhibit on frogs I wanna see...." "I see," she muttered back, staring at one of the old vases behind the glass displays, "I mean... that's ok right?" she glanced up and over her shoulder at him, offering him a rare half-smile and nodding her head in agreement, "Yes Beastboy, it's ok," she agreed with a small, almost inaudiable chuckle

"So the frog exhibit was cool," Raven said suddenly, Beastboy looked up at her curiously, beaming brightly, "Really? Ya' thought so?" he asked excitedly, almost squealing, "Yes, it was interesting," she agreed, he grinned, leaning back and nodding, "I no how to pick 'em," "To a point," she clairified, he pouted slightly but refused to let that really get him down, "Well doesn't matter, there's a cool shark thing upstairs I wanna see," he blinked hopefully, "Sure, after lunch we'll see the 'shark thing', and then maybe the section they have on oldworld religions," she suggested, he nodded, popping a french fry in his mouth- Raven found it hard to believe this nice place HAD french fries and other simaler foods but then she did realize that people often brought children with them....- "Yeah so what were you doing when I nocked earlier?" he asked curiously, honestly that had been nagging at him all morning but he wanted to give it a little time, ask in the right place instead of just hitting her upside the head with it, "Hm? Oh... it's.... nothing," she muttered back, he frowned, a look of sadness and dissapointment marring his features, "Rae... aren't we sorta past the 'nothing' phase?" he noted, she sighed, "I was just looking through some things of mine that might help us with this... issue we have at hand, I realize that we're just not making much progress on our own so I decided to consult some ... higher powers, but that can easily wait until we get home," "Higher powers.... like spirits and stuff?" "Basically," she confirmed, taking a bite of her food and hoping that would be enough to satisfy his curiosity, this entire topic made her uncomfortable, perhaps unreasonably so, but she wanted the subject to be changed- quickly, "Soooo are you like... Wiccan or something?" she stared at him, her face obviously showing no excitement at his question, "Or something," she replied vaguely, "What's that mean?" "It means that what I believe cannot be put in one of the boxes of most labeled religions, it's more complicated than that, it's... ALOT to explain and not enough words to explain it with... so the best I can say is just 'or something'..... does that make sense?" to her absolute shock, Beastboy smiled at her, "Yeah actually .... it does, thanks Rae," she shook her head slowly, "You'll thank me for honesty but not for cleaning up after you in the kitchen, honestly..." she muttered, unable to hide the small smile that the releif of that conversation brought to her lips

"I really don't think I'll like it," Raven protested, wrinkling her nose slightly, "Aw come on Rae! Otter paws is great! Do you even know what's in it?" Beastboy replied with a bright smile as he waited on the ice creams, "I know that it sounds like a cartoon from the eighties," she replied seriously, he just laughed and handed her the cone and took his own, taking a lick, "Just try it!" with a sigh of defeat she took a reluctant lick and blinked rather curiously, "Weeeeeell~?" he grinned eagerly, she hesitated for a moment before nodding slowly, "It's good," she concluded, "Coooool!!! Now let's see if we can't get you to go vegan too!!" he smiled brightly, 'Those green eyes know no boundries do they....?' she thought with a shake of her head, "Beastboy you know ice cream has milk in it right?" "Not this ice cream, it's made with almond milk, no cows involved~!" she tilted her head a bit sckeptickally but decided not to say anything, "'Sides I'm not a STRICT vegan.... I'm a strict vegitarian but every now and then if we get pizza or somethin' I'll eat it with normal cheese on it," he explained, "I see," she nodded slowly, taking another lick and walking outside to sit at one of the tables, "I just keep learning new things about you don't I?"

"Thank you for today Beastboy, it was... nice," Raven said with a small smile, the shapeshifter grinned from ear to ear, "R-Really?" "Mm-hm," she confirmed softly as she started for the door of the main room, "R-Raven?" she paused, turning back to him and watching as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small bottle with a shark tooth in it, "I um.... it's.... from the museum.... I-I just... I thought it was cool and um..." "Beastboy?" he paused, glancing at her and seeing in surprise that she was..... smiling..... "Thank you," she said sincerely as she accepted the tooth, his grin somehow got even bigger, "W-Well yeah ofcourse! I mean sure yeah! That's.... good that you're good um.... sho-" "You're finally home!" they heard, turning to the main room door and seeing a happy looking Crystal standing in the doorway waiting on them, "Come and see!! Randy learned this AWESOME new trick!" she squealed excitedly, dashing back into the main room with the duo behind her, leading them to the couch where the other Titans were, "Ok ok watch," she said, clearing her throat and looking down at the puppy, "Randy, shoe!" sure enough the little dog took off and returned moments later with a shoe, plopping it down on Crystal's feet, "See!!? She knows what a shoe is!" she cried excitedly, "Wow that's awesome! Do it again!" Beastboy cried happily, "'Ey BB don't get too enhtusiastic about this ok? She's been making us watch this trick for an HOUR...." Cyborg groaned from beside him, "I have already watched her collect my entire collection of boots that I did not know was missing..." Starfire frowned as she looked over her shoulder at the pile, "Maybe next you can teach her a more usefull trick, like barking at intruders," Raven suggested with a slight chuckle, Cyborg leaned over to Robin, raising an eyebrow curiously, "Is it just me or does she seem.... happier?" "No.... it's not just you," Robin smirked back

Raven sighed softly and bit her lip, closing her eyes as she leaned against the door to her room, tilting her head back and slowly walking towards her bookshelf, setting the bottle with the shark tooth in it next to the only picture she had of the team, this shelf in paticular was her treasure shelf, the things that, if a fire ever took down the tower, she would risk her life to save, they were important.... and the shelf just below them was important too.... but not nearly in the same vein as this one.... reaching down to the shelf below it she slowly picked up the box she had put back earlier and took a step back, slowly sitting in the middle of her floor and taking a deep breath, opening it and taking the cards out and spreading them out a few different ways before recollecting, rebuilding, cutting, and rebuilding the deck again, taking another deep breath, she removed the top six cards, laid them in the correct layout, and closed her eyes, flipping them over one by one, inhaling deeply through her nose as she stared down at them, "The Storm Angel", "The Skeleton And The Maiden", "Ghosts Of The Past", "The Witch At The End Of The World", "The Snow Angel", and "Strange Valentine", she blinked, confused by the last one and tried to draw another card instead, this time it was "Fairy Of The Highlands", tilting her head in confusion, she tried again, only to be met with "Angel Of Time", making her huff and glare at the cards, "I don't have much choice than to listen to you do I?" and this was why she didn't use cards, they always had to give her messages she didn't want to hear....
